Blue Mountains Counselling & Psychotherapy
Welcome to a deeper experience of life. My name is Claudia Bretschneider and I would like to invite you on a journey of self discovery, healing and transformation using my extensive training as a counsellor and transpersonal psychotherapist, yoga therapist and life-long meditation practitioner. From my beginnings in Switzerland life has taken me on my own journey of discovery. I began studying yoga under Salvarajan Yesudian and Elisabet Haich at the age of 15. My training in counselling and psychotherapy began in 1995 working in a psychiatric hospital in Switzerland. I then moved to India to work at Atma Shakti Vidyalaya, a progressive centre treating people with a variety of mental health issues. I moved to Austalia in 1998 and completed a Bachelor of Social Science in Applied Counselling at Edith Cowan University and a Graduate Diploma in Transpersonal Psychology at the Crucible Centre.
I have additional diplomas in yogic science and teaching, as well as shiatsu therapy and reiki. I continue to transform deeper aspects of myself by exploring the most subtle karmic imprints and inherited patterns of being. I currently facilitate transmission meditation gatherings aligned with Share International.
After many years of personal exploration into the layers of the psyche and the therapies that access and unlock its potential, I am happy to be enjoying a life of inner peace and clarity that comes from having met and integrated those parts of the psyche that are wounded, misunderstood and disowned.
Therapy sessions are usually an hour in duration and can include a range of therapeutic modalities to help you to access the deeper aspects of your psyche. For more information go to my Therapies Page.
I am fortunate to be practising what I love in a welcoming, upstairs room on Leura Mall - main street of the ever-popular, cold climate town of Leura, NSW. The Upper Blue Mountains is a retreat from life's pressures at the very least, especially owing to its location in the centre of a World Heritage National Park with its famous bush walks, canyoning expeditions and unique fauna and flora.
As people are learning more and more about the interconnectedness of the mind and body and the importance of having a healthy relationship with themselves in order to improve relationships with others, their is a growing trend to include therapy as a means of self-discovery and self-care, along with massage, yoga, meditation and so on.
